"In Orangefield, Texas, there’s a familiar rhythm to my father’s days."
"Even now, well into his eighties, he still makes his rounds—though perhaps a bit more slowly, with more pauses between stops. He starts with coffee at the school administration building, where he once served as a school board member. Then it’s over to the water office, maybe a stop by the credit union, and a few words with the folks at the oilfield supply store."
"He never calls it networking. To him, it’s just staying connected—being part of the community he’s always loved. But watching him over the years has made it clear to me that this is networking in its truest, most human form."
"And it’s still teaching me."
