What are you doing right now?

I just came in from spraying two of our greenhouses (only the peppers) with soap and neem oil. Then I picked raspberries. Wife is a much better picker than I am, but I have to try to contribute my share. Daughter-in-law came over on Tuesday and picked what she wanted. I think we must have 5 or 6 gallons of raspberries in the freezer, and the season is far from over. Wife picked the currants and serviceberries yesterday. I have some stuff to do in the garage and the main shed to start winter preparations. It is so much easier now when I don't have to work in the cold and dark, or heat the shed with the wood stove. I still have one greenhouse to spray, and maybe some peppers to pick. My wife does most of the harvesting since she is the one who does most of the canning, drying, and freezing.

When I was picking berries, I found that my rooster can speak at least one phrase in English. He kept saying "Shoot me, shoot me soon!" It used to sound like something else, but as the season is slowly coming to a close, his phraseology seems to have changed...or perhaps it is the way I am hearing it.;)

With all of our fruit, we have good years and bad. We seem to have a lot of peaches and grapes but no berries that the birds and chippies did not get. Bad apple year this year after the insanely good one we had last year. But the asian pears are better than most years now. After the flooded spring and summer we had, I am grateful for what we have, at least. Now we have, in effect, a drought.:(

Woke from a good sleep, but after the weirdest dream I've had in a long time.

No idea how old I was, but it must have been in my 20s somewhere. I was visiting the Moon. Some well-established colony. Weird things going on, including something like a school graduation (or something) party.

Somehow I got romantically entangled with a cousin. I needed to get back home to Earth, and I couldn't find this cousin. I did find her "glove." Well, it was sort of like an astronaut's spacesuit glove, but an A.I. glove. It crawled onto my hand and then guided me to a spacecraft that I somehow could fly back home with its assistance. Arriving on Earth, it was now more like some sort of large Jeep or Hummer and I was driving though heavy snow to get home.

Sometime after arriving I was trying to figure things out. I went near that glove and it sort of started ringing and said "your cousin xxx is calling." I can't remember the name. I picked it up and it answered. It was her, and she was miffed, jealous that I had paid for something for her friend that I had declined to pay for for her. She was calling back her spacecraft and then coming to join me on Earth.

There was a lot of stuff going on while I was up there, but it's all very confused now. I have no idea why I would get involved with a first cousin, and I'm not sure I was consciously aware of that until the glove said so - though I was unsurprised.

How is that for bizarre?

I have been whining about the weather, even here with my last post. Too wet in the spring and wayyyyyy too dry for the last few weeks. Now all of a sudden, a huge flash flood hit south eastern WI, Milwauke area. We have gotten a couple of big rains here too, the last couple of days but no flooding because we have severely dry land and Milwaukee has concrete.
I have also been thinking about the 'sky is falling' mentality of the country and find it is not really falling here. We have always had rain and dry times. The government gives stuff and takes it away. I'm not able to do anything about the world condition except maybe give to World Vision. But generally things are OK for me and mine.
There does seem to be a lot of critters trying to move into my barnhouse, though.

With the start of "fallen leaves" season, a little early this year. I started bringing out some Autumn lawn care gear. I noticed some damage on one piece of equipment and undertook a repair.

This morning I was out there and had to smack my forehead: my "repair" rendered this item utterly unusable! Thankfully it was easily reversed but what a waste of time, effort, and supplies. Oh well.

Still, it is worn and might not make it through the season. Now I have to try to locate a replacement, something I failed at last year. While it isn't vital it is a huge time and effort saver.

PS:

Well I found the exact same item on Amazon.com, but HOLY CROW they want a lot for one! At least I'm in no rush so I can browse around or wait for it to go on sale.

PPS:

Whew! Found it in-stock locally for 2/3 the price. I might jump on that or keep on looking.
