Donald Trump admitted Vladimir Putin had let him down on his state visit to the UK - but said he still hopes he can add the war in Ukraine to a list of conflicts he claims to have "solved". Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeated calls for extra pressure on Russia.

I don't see Europe turning from Russian oil and gas. Considering that the Saudis have now been pushed further from the West by Israel's recent action against Qatar and are now allying with Pakistan... Middle East sources may be drying up further.

What's the alternative when solar has failed and wind turbines become more problematic by the day? Burn more lignite, peat, and dung?

The U.S. has been sending gas to Europe and is ramping up to send more. Europe has gotten themselves into this pickle; when Trump warned Germany not to rely on Russia, he was laughed at by their diplomats. I think we should back away and let the Europeans fight their own battles. As I have said before, the world is lining up very much in the way it did prior to WWI. All it takes is a small incident, and everything will go up in flames. As has been seen in Ukraine, even the warfare has fallen back to static trenches.

I have no idea why Trump was buttering up the Islamic-leaning Charles so heavily. I agree that the last thing we need is to be dragged into yet another family feud in squabbling Europe. I don't forget that British and French extended colonialism handed us the quagmires of both SE Asia and the Middle East, not to mention the mess they made that led to the India/Pakistan problems. It is frustrating as hell, and Canada's woes stem from the very same things: first the French then the Brits exporting their socialist monarchy culture.

I believe that Western Europe including the UK are now all about opposing Russia at all costs with a hidden agenda of overrunning them and seizing natural resources under subjugation. If they Islamify the continent in the process "so much the better" for a new age of serfdom under neo-feudalism. They'll want brutal, absolutist "law" for "thee" and not the elites' "me." Sharia might be just what the doctor ordered.

That was pretty much how Rome's empire used Christianity after its republic was eliminated. The remaining European monarchies stem from that machine even now.
