I'm still kicking
Yeah Yeah Yeah
Not like I did before
Because my bottom sore

But I'm still Kicking
Yeah Yeah Yeah
After having such a tough time
Thinking I will lose my mind

Thank you all for your support
Your words have inspired me

This coming Tuesday, I have to go back to Manhattan for two more appointments. One is for simulation, and the other is for an RO MRI.

I have no clue what these are for, but I'm glad that would be the final time I have to go to Manhattan. The rest of my program is on Long Island, closer to my home.

I don't know how bad the after effects are with the radiation treatment, but as it stands right now, it looks like I'm going to be doing the driving back and forth for the 26 treatments.

I'm expecting a call today from an MSK nurse, I expect it will be to brief me on prepping for this Tuesday's appointment.

I made an appointment to see my family doctor today. I'm having pain on my left side. I am hoping it is just a pulled muscle, I don't want to be dealing with a kidney stone or hernia.

I am not sleeping very well, just too much going on, then there's is the constant pain.

It would be good to see the sun come out a little bit. We had a lot of rain lately. It's Misty / foggy outside right now. Maybe the sun will break through.

I got good results from my CT scan today. The pain in my left side must be a pulled muscle. They found nothing that would cause the pain. The only concerning find was a "stable 4mm left lower lobe nodule", I will bring the CT scan report to MSK the next time I go.
I read the report on my Portal, the doctor hasn't call me with the results.

I was suppose to get an x ray also, but that will be done next week.
I wish I could say I'm feeling better, but the pain is there yet, maybe a little less than yesterday.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I often wondered if the book "Lord of the Flies" was actually based on the human psyche. Would we jump back to survival of the Fitist, if left alone, or is it not a jump at all? Does it exist in todays civilization.

How many times have you heard? "He had to step on a lot of shoes to get where he is?" I do not believe, or maybe I don't want to believe this statement is true for all. There are many who have desires but have no talent. Those are the ones I believe will do anything to achieve a goal. Those who are brilliant, like Elton Musk and Walt Disney, will get there on their own achievements and creativity.

I guess survival of the fittes exists to some extent whether we live in a civilization or an animal in the jungle.

Here's a thought two men meet at a bar, and one says, "I'm a DESIGN ENGINEER for home heating and air conditioning, I make $100,000 a year." The other man says,"I'm the repairman that fixes HVAC systems, I make $150,000 a year."

Take away what you think out of this, so many thoughts came to me at once, I couldn't record them all.

Last Tuesday my daughter drove me into Manhattan for a CT simulation and MRI.

The CT simulation procedure you're in the scanner for 2 minutes then they take a few measurements then they tattooed three markers. This is done I assume to give the radiation treatment a better alignment to target the fiducial markers inserted in my prostate.

For the MRI after they set me up on the table they said that they are going to take a 2 minutes scan, I said to myself great I'll be out of here soon. I was mistaken because I had to take another 30 minutes of scanning, they were giving in 2-5 minutes segments. I have no idea what the MRI was for. When I w a s done my back ( spinal stenosis) was screaming. I never sleep on my back for that reason. Just glad another step toward completion is done.

My daughter drove me to Manhattan for these procedures, the trip was horrible. A lot of bumper to bumper traffic, and the GPS had us changing courses because of that. I'm glad that should be the last trip we will be making to Manhattan.

My radiation treatment will start July 28 and will be done close to me, about 25 minutes away. I'm looking forward to it. At times I feel like canceling the treatment, I'm tired and hurting.

I can't believe how slow I am and how fast I get tired. I have to sit alot to rest my back. I spent a lot of time in the last few days arranging hoses to water my daughter's Garden and my wife's flower containers. I had to test the hose reels. Some are automatic, and some are manual. Of the 3 hose reels, I'm tossing one. Right now the setup is functioning the way intented, but it's not done. I put in one of those posts that have a valve on it. I buried the post, but it rocks a little, so I will add a filler to make it solid. In lieu of a concrete filler, there is a product that comes in a bag, where it gets mixed, then starts to expand, like insulating foam. Pour it into the hole it will expand and hold the post.

This is a year where I should not have ordered plants from catalogs or the internet, but I did. I have a 2 ft dry rooted crepe myrtle tree that was delivered in April, and I never planted it. I put it in water, and now it's leafing out. I did try to plant it once, but I couldn't keep my balance to dig the hole. I'm pretty sure I figured out a way to dig the hole now. That's my next project.

Yesterday I got a surprise! The crepe myrtle tree wound up being two trees. I had ordered two trees, but when it came in one bag, I just thought it was one tree and that they had one on backorder. I planted the two trees, I put my Walker close to where I was digging the holes for the trees and used it to keep balance while I dug the holes with one hand on the shovel the other on the Walker. It worked out pretty well. I spent the morning planting the trees and doing a few other little things around the yard.

My daughter and three grandkids left last Sunday early morning she's driving down to Florida. She is making sightseeing stops along the way and will be visiting friends and relatives. They will be gone almost 3 weeks. The wife and I miss them. We are getting photos and videos daily of their venture. The Expressions on the faces of my grandkids tell me that they are really enjoying it. So far, they've been to Mount Vernon, Yorktown, and an Aquarium.

I remember one fourth of July, I was standing with a bunch of my friends on the sidewalk, watching a bunch of adults who were shooting off fireworks in the middle of the street. In front of the apartment building that I lived in was my father and a bunch of older folks, also watching the firework show, and some were setting them off.

My father was never big on fireworks he might buy me and my brother a pack of lady fingers to shoot off, but they were harmless. If one went off in your hand, you might feel a small burn, but they couldn't blow your finger off.

To my shock and surprise, my father came over to me and handed me a buzz bomb and asked if I wanted to shoot it off. I didn't know what to think, of course I said yes with all my friends standing there. I had never shot anything off that went into the sky, I was limited to lady fingers and sparklers. Was he trying to show that he trusted me? Or I can act responsibly?

He followed me into the street where I tried to place the buzz Bomb equal distance between the sidewalks, made sure no cars were coming, I lit the match, then I lit the fuse.

Case you're not familiar with a buzz Bomb, it has a propeller connected to a tube. When ignited, the propeller spins at a high rate and buzzed while it soars up to the sky. When it reaches about 40 ft, it explodes.

After I lit the buzz bomb, my father headed back to his friends, I went back to my friends. My friends greeted me with a "good job", and we waited for it to go off, I felt great, but it was short-lived. As we watched with great anticipation, we could hear it go off it was buzzing, but there was no lift off it was just bobbin up and down, then it started bouncing heading right for the group of adults, they scattered like a mad bull was heading for them. Charley, one of the adults, was running away with the Buzz Bomb bouncing right behind him like it was a guided missile, heading for his butt. Charley managed to gain some distanced from it before it exploded, so he was safe. Fortunately, no one was hurt. We all had a big laugh, most until we cried. I later found out the Buzz Bomb has an up side. Apparently, I had it upside down.

We laugh about this for a long time after, and I can still visualize Charley running down the street with a Buzz Bomb chasing him.

This is a joke I heard many years ago it came to mind, so I wrote it out.
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate thread for it, maybe Silly Bird is better.

A Priest got a request to bless a house one day from one of the women parishioners.

The woman welcomes the priest at the door and asks him to enter. The priest enters the house and notices a cage in the corner of the living room with a parrot in it. He says to the woman what a beautiful bird. He walks over to the cage and says hello, the parrot returns the greeting. She says he's very smart, I want to show you something I never taught him this just watch. She opens the cage door and lifts the birds left leg. He says the whole Hail Mary. The priest is standing there in disbelief and says to the women that's amazing. The woman says, wait till you see this she lifts the birds right leg, and he says the complete Lords Prayer The priest is now completely amazed he says to the lady this is incredible, and I wonder if you would kindly bring this wonderful bird to mass on Sunday. I would like to show the congregation.

At Sundays mass, after the priest gives the sermon he says to parishioners, I have something I want you to hear that I find absolutely amazing, with that said he asked the lady to bring the parrot in the cage up to the pulpit. He opens the cage door and lifts the left leg of the parrot. The parrot immediately says the Hail Mary, the parishioners gasp with amazement. The prest then continues by lifting the right leg of the parrot, and the parrot recites the Lords prayer. The parishioners can't believe what they just witnessed, and in their excitement, they applauded the parrot. After it's settled a little, a man in the back of the church raises his hand, the priest addresses him, can I help you, man says what happens if you lift both legs, just then the parrot starts jumping around and says to the man, "I'll fall on my ass you jerk."

Last week, I ordered from Lowe's 2 Fragrant Sweet Box Feature Shrubs in 2.5 -Quart Pot.

These are evergreen shrubs that can handle shade. Apparently, it's in the boxwood family, but the leaves seem to be much larger. It grows to about 3 ft high and wide, which is perfect for the location we wanted to put it.

We have a small bed on a shady side of the house that most of the plants in there got destroyed by the fire or during the refurbishment of the house.

I did not want to order anything through the mail that had to be planted, but when the wife and I saw this bush, we liked it and decided that we would plant it immediately after receiving it. We received one of the bushes this past Tuesday and planted it yesterday it looks nice. The second bush delivery date is tomorrow. we already have the hole dug for it.

I've been pretty tired lately. This morning, when I first got up, my heart rate was 44 bpm. Right now, it's hoovering around 50 bpms. I wonder if it's related to this tired feeling?

We are rearranging some small trees here too. One cedar tree just planted last week is doing ok.
I think bp has lots to do with how we feel, hope you feel better once it is under control.

I went for my first radiation treatment for prostate cancer yesterday. Actually, before they did the radiation, they did a setup. I didn't ask a lot of questions didn't really have the time but from what I gather the setup is basically a scan of the markers in the prostate, which is sent to the doctor and he Maps out where the radiation will go. I guess it's like setting up the coordinates. Right after that was done, they did the radiation. They said to drink a lot of water before I came to prevent damage to my bladder.

Every Monday before my treatment, I will meet with the oncologist for a status check. I have a list of questions for him. I am already feeling some side effects, more like burning or irritation in the area of my prostate.

I do have some concerns. I hope the doctor can give me some comforting answers on Monday.
