What small trees would you recommend for a small garden in the UK?

Japanese maple trees, ornamental cherry trees, chaste trees, and dogwood tree. All are very pretty trees.

There are also small fruit trees that you can get if you are interested in having something that has both blossoms and fruit, as well as being an ornamental tree. We also have blueberry bushes, which bloom in the spring and then are loaded with delicious berries later on. They are not a tree, but some grow into a pretty bush and would look nice in your garden.

What are you trying to accomplish with trees in your garden @Smithy ? Do you want fruit, flowers, or foliage?

I love my service berry trees. Spring white flowers, early summer edible berries that you will like, if your birds leave you some, and the orange leaves in fall. Not sure if you have them across the pond. You can trim them to bush height.
