Pet Peeves!!! DO YOU HAVE ONE?

Here's one of mine.
A few months ago, I subscribed to a magazine I enjoyed in the past, but I canceled when we had a house fire.
The new subscription runs to 2027. Yesterday in the mail, I received a renewal offer. I subscribed for 2 years and only received two issues so far. Why is there a renewal offer already?

A further review of the renewal offer I noticed in fine print at the bottom A continuing book program which you automatically join, if you renew. They would send you a book, and they give you 30 days to review. If you like it, you send the money, if you don't you send it back. I wasn't interested in sending books back or accepting books I didn't order. I didn't remember if my original renewal form had the same continuity program, so I called them. The customer service operator already knew what I was going to say before I said anything about not wanting to be part of any automatic delivery of books. Apparently, it's a common issue. The operator checked, and they did have me signed up to receive books I didn't request. The operator said she took me off the program, and I shouldn't get any books. If I did to just keep them.
I have to be more careful when ordering anything of that nature. I tend not to read the fine print. This was the second item in 2 weeks that I ordered that was a come on.

Magazines are struggling to survive, so they may be doing unscrupulous stuff to get more money. They will lose subscribers in the process. When I married I was subscribed to 27 magazines which I read form cover to cover. It drove my new wife crazy, so I gradually let them lapse. I now subscribe to none.

All the "safety devices" that don't make anything safer. The OPD device on the smaller refillable propane bottles is one issue. They are not on larger propane bottles, just the small 5-gallon types. I also hate all the safety spouts on diesel and gasoline storage "cans" (usually made of plastic). They are so difficult to use that everyone I know simply bypasses them and that totally defeats their purpose. They DO make the cans more expensive, so that might be the real purpose behind them(says the cynic). I use either a siphon or a funnel, but my wife simply removes the cap and pours, often dumping gas all over the place. She does not have the hand strength to operate many of them. The new thing is to by the racing jugs that are designed to fill stock cars and other race vehicles when time is at a premium. They too are quite expensive, but they do remove the frustration as there is no safety devices on them for some reason.
