A rant about changes in guidelines within the US and Canada. His main beef is ignoring insulin resistance and overconsuming carbs.

I'm SO BLOODY FURIOUS: New BLOOD PRESSURE Guidelines Are CRAZY

I wish I'd seen this before my cardiologist visit yesterday. One thing I noticed was that the nurse took my blood pressure the old fashioned way instead of using one of those automatic digital thingies similar to those we use at home.

At least the doc advised me to keep watch on my BP as I lose weight. The medication I take for high BP might need to be reduced as I shed pounds.

Just as the UK is falling under the rule of immigrants, the U.S. is ruled by Big Pharma. High BP, high Cholesterol, and even perhaps high blood sugar may all be controlled in the U.S. by the pharmaceutical companies dictating reference values based on the sales of drugs. Doctors should resist this but most are trained in medical school to follow whatever is published by the journals and associations with no regard for history or common sense. I think the big increase in insulin resistance was brought on by the very AHA that pushed for the almost total removal of fats from our diets in the 1960s and 1970s and the introduction of high fructose corn syrup into our diets as a replacement for the taste of fat in prepared foods.

Every person should try to educate themselves and take control of their healthcare when possible.
