Minneapolis police chief tells his officers that they have a duty to obstruct ICE

Yesterday, the Minneapolis police chief told his officers that they had a duty to obstruct ICE, and that if they did not do so, they would be fired. I moved from California, where the street cops looked a lot like they do on TV and in movies, to Minneapolis, where the cops looked like they spent most of their off-hours drinking beer and who didn't want to walk too far from their cars as they would be short of breath. That was a long time ago and things may have changed, but ICE has recently been recruiting retired and separated U.S. Marines and other U.S. military into their ranks. I suspect that any Minneapolis officer who attacks or interferes with an ICE operation will not fare well, not to mention the police chief. Couple this with the fraud that has bene uncovered and other voices, are we actually heading into civil war? Things sound a good bit like what was happening in 1857-1861 over a different issue. This time it is about people who are illegally in the country committing crimes instead of slavery, and it is being pushed by the same political party as it was then.

We have been discussing this in the other Somali thread here, and the police chief said that most of their officers are Somalian, so they would all want to stop ICE from arresting illegals.

I just can't imagine this behavior is sustainable. How many people who get screwed over there can they keep shut up?
