Have You Ever Been a Procrastinator?

Thank you for the video! @Nancy Hart Great stuff in there and not a second of boring stuff!

Becoming a self-starter, and forming good work habits don't just happen overnight. Once the internet becomes an addiction, it turns into a real "time bandit"...BIG TIME!

I read a book, "Saying YES to NO". When we say yes, to something....at the same time we are saying no to other things, that are important. We over commit ourselves! Our ego jumps to the head of the line and says YES! We have to quit that. It's OK to say NO! As retired Seniors we are setting our own deadlines, more than we did when we were younger and working.

I said NO more to physical therapy last week. For the first time in a long time, I have no events scheduled in the near future. To me an upsetting "event" can be as simple as resolving a dispute online. I do tend to procrastinate on those, but not as much as trying to do it over the phone. Wonder how long it will last.

Procrastination does not have to involve the internet. There are other ways.

The reason this thread came about was I had one job to do last week---declutter and clean the room where the computer sits. The man was to come and install the new motherboard the next morning. It was already 10 pm. Instead I spotted a container of left over pieces of soap in the kitchen and chose to melt and consolidate them into 2 large bars (easy and fun). Last time I did this was 3 years ago.

Chopped up soap scraps in water, simmered over the stove, and poured the slimy mess into a double-shell trinket dish.

However, this still did not take up enough time, so I chose to try and mold the two shells together, requiring a second batch of soap. Then the Panic Monster appeared. I stayed up very late that night finally decluttering and cleaning the computer room.

Looking at the positive, you employed / exercised both sides of your brain.
The creative soap blending comes predominately from the right side and the more mundane cleaning is logic which comes from the left side.

Procrastination can, after all, improve brain function !

Yup, I know it’s a rationalization but for the time being it’s the best I can do. I’ll think more about it tomorrow.
