We live in a rural area and have chickens and dogs only now, at one time we had equine, horse and donkey ducks and cats.

Now just chickens and dogs and their hens are just now growing back feathers from molting.
Except Lucile she is still naked in some areas. Although she is no longer molting some feathers growing back.
Lucile was injured a couple years ago so she has her own pen now so the other hens don't attack her.

I grew up on a farm and I would like to live in the country again, but I don't think that will happen. I miss the quiet of rural life, sky full of stars, beautiful mornings and evenings, and so many other things. I take a horse Ranch too! I love watching beautiful horses.

Good thing you caught that. I do miss my ducks. Had one as a kid, named Joe. He followed me around pecking on my toes. We had ducks here about 16 years ago too.

I don't recall ever dealing with 100 pound sacks or bags, but I do recall 80 pound feed bags which became 50 pound bags here in the late 1980s. When I asked the feed dealer why, I was told that women were now the biggest livestock raisers and they often had trouble dealing with 80 pound bags but could handle 50 pounds just fine.

I know my MIL wore feed sack dresses as she was raised on a farm with three daughters. When the dresses wore out, the fabric was again repurposed into quilts, rag rugs, and other decorative things.

We had a cotton mill in Atlanta, I knew some that worked there, including one of my Best friends.
After it closed down, they made loft apts out of the building.
Mill was in Cabbage Town which wasn't a desired place to live, although I knew people there from school and they were fine. Also, unlike today, no crime or problems.
Although the new lofts were considered by mid to high income residents.
