I sure do, I feel email verification is very important, especially when preventing bot attacks which can happen at any given time and can be quite bad if not dealt with quickly.
For extra security I approve new members manually to be on the safe side.

I've already said this in a PM, but I might as well put it here. I might suggest adding a layer of security through the registering process, as most forums have you confirm your email, or something of the sort. Spam bots, and other no-good activity could start up without a whole lot of security. Another idea is having to manually confirm the accounts that are created, just to make sure the site isn't totally filled up with bots, which it looks like you're already doing.
