Do you have any health problems?

I'm here. I've stopped in once in a while To see what's going on. I've had eleven radiation treatments up to today, Most people include my family think it's a piece of cake but there's a lot more to it than just getting the treatment. Before each treatment I have to make sure my bladder if full and my bowel is empty. I cannot have any bloating, it's tricky to adjust your intake for this criteria. So far I just had to get off the radiation table once to drink more water to full my bladder. My prostate and surrounding areas feel irriatated I take ibuprofen for that.
I come home tired, so I nap.

Hopefully after I finish the next 15 treatments, I'll be able to spend more time with all of you. Until then it will be sporadic.
I know exactly how you feel, Tony. I drink a full bottle of water before we leave home and another one while heading to radiation. Since my appointments have been at 10:10 AM, I eat nothing before we leave at 9:30AM. This coming Monday (August 11th) I do my last radiation treatment and get to ring the "Finished" bell in the Patient Waiting Area and get a certificate stating I've had 28 therapy sessions of radiation. The following week, I go to another Oncologist and get a Hormone Injection in my butt.

For the last couple of weeks, I've been having bladder spasms sometimes during the day, but definitely at night after I go to bed. These spasms can be pretty painful, but I am getting a prescription (Tamsulosin aka Flowmax) for those spasms. I have to get up almost every hour, on the hour, due to the spasms and urinating after they go away. My bowels are also being affected by the radiation and I get diarrhea quite often.

Getting radiation therapy, and the affects of it, sure isn't a "cake walk", that's for sure!

Congratulations on ringing the bell this Monday.
I've been on flowmax for about 5 months. I started it way before the radiation treatment, when I had a UTI.
Your right it's not a "cake walk", a few times I was thinking of stopping treatment, laying on that table with my bad back is painful.
Congratulations again, I'll be doing mine in a few weeks.

Kind of weird, but my last VA doctor thought I had a UTI after she seen my PSA number after labs I took last year. She prescribed me an antibiotic, but my problem wasn't UTI, it was the prostate cancer. I don't have that VA doctor anymore.

Just after I started my radiation therapy, I spoke to an 81 year old lady that was sitting in the Patient Waiting Area at oncology waiting for her turn on the radiation table. The lady looked like she was literally going to die! She told me "This (that morning) is my last radiation treatment. If it wasn't, I'd have to stop the therapy. My body just can't handle it anymore." As for myself, I'm making it thru it, but my wife and I agreed that my body isn't handling the radiation therapy very good at all. If I had more days of radiation to go, instead of just one, I really have to consider quitting.

As I was told by the Radiation Therapist that helps me get on the table, "The last two weeks of radiation are the worst" and she wasn't kidding. As for the bladder spasms and diarrhea/bowels, it definitely has been! I'm sure glad this prescription of Tamsulosin/Flowmax is being sent to me. My bladder spasms have become pretty painful all night. I haven't even been getting close to how much sleep I should be getting at night.

I only hope the Hormone Injection is better on my body than the radiation has been.

My Mother hated Docs. She went to work one day and she was clearly not doing very well. Her boss told her to go to see a Doc, or she would lose her job. She went home. The next morning she was taken to the hospital in a diabetic coma. She died three weeks later.

Please, Mary. If not for yourself, do it for your family and friends... Go see a Doc. 🙏
OK, I lied. I have seen doctors. I do not go in for symptomless visits, yearly check ups etc. I went in to get a tetanus shot after impaling my finger on a garden implement. My clinic was closed so I went to urgent care. I was told that I would lose my doctor since I don't go in for regular checks. Then I went in for an infected sebaceous cyst. They take my bp and stuff at urgent care and I am perfect. I went in for a hip replacement without a referral. I did get an mri at MRIs 'R' Us to take with me. They could do an anterior replacement because my body mass was under the max. I have done a lot of research on supplements and know eating badly affects my health badly so I don't.
No one can figure out what is wrong with my right thigh tho. Not even me. I have had injections, accupuncture, chiro, massage, PT...They can't fix the only negative symptom I have.
So I deal. My first hubby was a surgical assistant. So I know a bit.
Thanks for caring.

I noticed that several people here have mentioned diabetes as a health issue. Today, on Amazon Kindle store, Dr. Jason Fung’s book about it is on sale. It is called “The Diabetes Code”. I have not read this one, but i have read some of his other books, and definitely recommend checking it out. It is on sale for only $1.99 for the ebook right now, but will not be on sale for very long.

Thank you Yvonne, I'll check it out soon. After today I am surely going to check into your stomach remedies.
For now I'll just say Elvis died a horrible death, thought I was going to go the same way this morning, lasted a couple hours!
I've been so busy and stressed , I didn't pay any attention to some colon issues.
I've been here reading over your post on kefir etc.

I have been concerned about you and Jake, since I had not seen you on the forum for a while, @Marie Mallory . Glad you are back, we have missed you !
Stomach issues are never a good thing, for sure, and I am glad that you are doing better now.

One of the best books to read is by Dr. William Davis, called “Super Gut”. He explains in an easily understood way how everything works in the digestive system nd how to make it work better and keep us healthier , too.
He also has some good videos on YouTube , which you would probably like better than reading the book, with your eyesight problems.

Yvonne we have both had deaths in our family and still training the new dogs among other things. Jakes brothers wife passed away last month, my cousin is 77 and he is now on his deathbed, not suppose to make it thru the night.

Today was a rude reminder of me taking care of myself, :sick:so I thought of my favorite natural healer Yvonne and came for an ' appointment '.
