Vladimir Putin insists the US is "serious" in its aim to take over Greenland - and warns NATO countries over their actions in the Arctic. It comes as Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer reveal plans for a "reassurance force" in Ukraine after a peace deal is signed. Follow the latest here.

I think the people in Greenland should be allowed to decide if they want to be a part of the US.

I think there is a big movement toward independence in Greenland, as the island is not treated very well by the Danes, at least from the viewpoint of the Greenlanders. The population is quite low, however, so it probably could not stand on its own since it occupies a strategic place in the Arctic/Atlantic interface. It would be taken over or occupied by someone. The idea of joining the U.S. has roots going back at least into the 1970s, and perhaps even further back than that so it is not a new idea. I think Trump just picked up on the idea as the move toward independence grows and the intrusion into the Arctic by Russia and China grows and Canada's military fades into non-existence.
