Billy Joel closing New York motorcycle shop!

Billy Joel leads riders in the 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride in New York on Sept. 11, 2015.

Billy Joel's beloved Long Island motorcycle shop is closing down after nearly 15 years of offering fans a free peek at his personal collection of dozens of bikes.

The music icon will be shuttering 20th Century Cycles in Oyster Bay, New York, in late September and auctioning off his collection later this year because of a brain disorder he has been diagnosed with, according to a spokesperson, Claire Mercuri.

In May, Joel announced that he was canceling upcoming concerts after learning he has Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, a fluid buildup in his brain that can affect thinking, concentrating, memory, movement and more, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The 76-year-old singer, composer and pianist was having trouble with his balance but otherwise felt good, he said in an interview last month on Bill Maher's Club Random podcast. READ MORE

Cindy had Pseudotumor Cerebri, a condition where the pressure inside the skull increases. It started after she was tripped while running by a homeless guy that thought she was going to steal his bike. She hit her head on the concrete when she fell. Our Neurologist said that in effect, her body reacted to that by building up Spinal Fluid to protect her brain.

But when that Spinal Fluid was no longer needed, her body kept producing it. It was basically like a leaky faucet dripping into a glass. When the glass gets full, it starts to spill. When her brain got full of Spinal Fluid, she a ton of problems because of the pressure build up. So she had to have a Lumbar Puncture, aka, a Spinal Tap to relieve the pressure on her brain.

This is not thing as what Billy Joel has, but the treatment for the fluid build up is the same. A Lumbar Puncture. And seeing Cindy getting them sometimes as frequently as 14 times a year and what she had to deal with, I seriously feel for the guy. That is some serious stuff...

An amusing, nostalgic trip with Billy Joel and Jay Leno

"WHAT IT’S ABOUT: In this second episode of the new season of “Jay Leno’s Garage,” Leno asks what makes a car a cult classic? As a side question, he wonders the same thing about motorcycles. Naturally, that leads him to Billy Joel’s 20th Century Cycles in Oyster Bay. In other segments, Leno peruses such timeless questions as: Which car was faster? The AMC Pacer or AMC Gremlin? Plus, an amusing encounter with Charlie Sheen — sober a year-and-a-half, he says — who supplies a particularly good anecdote about “Platoon.”

"MY SAY: “Jay Leno’s Garage” is essentially a ruse by Leno to hang out with old pals and anything on four (or more) wheels that spits out exhaust. In other words, this is the perfect gig for the former “Tonight Show” host. It’s funny, usually effortlessly so, because he’s doing nothing here that he doesn’t want to do. That giant 12-wheeled Landmaster all-terrain vehicle that starred in 1977’s “Damnation Alley” and looks like an articulated sausage with a bad attitude? Jay couldn’t be happier to make its acquaintance in Wednesday’s episode."

Billy Joel's first motorcycle was a 1967 BSA Royal Star 650. It holds a special place in his heart as his first bike and was later restored on the TV show "American Restoration". The restoration was a significant project, with the show's host, Rick Dale, even traveling to England for parts.
