Are we going to war with Venezuela?

The former ambassador to Venezuela (James Story?) says Maduro is not the sharpest tool in the shed, and that the woman in charge now was always running things.

Project 2025 mentions Venezuela 18 times. I think there are different people in the administration with different plans for Venezuela. That's why all the confusion. Trump mentioned oil several times in the press conference Saturday. Rubio has always been obsessed with regime change in Cuba.

The Maduro regime put out a hit on Rubio. I don't know if that was before or after his obsession came to light. It seems like it was a number of years ago while he was in the Senate. Rubio has a number of friends in Venezuela, one of whom is said to be the woman who was elected President.

Thanks to President Trump, around 800 political prisoners are being released. I read that some of these are foreigners, but I am not sure if any are American, but if there are any, I am sure that President Trump will make sure that they are returned home safely, like he has done for other prisoners who have been held in foreign countries.

As a consequence of Maduro's demise, Cuba now appear to be about to fall too. Venezuela has propped up Cuba's economy with oil since Chavez grabbed power, but that oil is now gone and Cuba is rapidly descending into the same state as Iran is now in as the U.S. (and Israel in Iran's case) have isolated both nations. Iran is reportedly calling the foreign fighters they have been financing for year, especially Hezbollah to help control the Iranians in the streets of Teheran and other cities. Cuba reportedly is already forming breadlines as the money for importing food has dried up with the fall of Maduro's money pipeline. Trump seems to be winning on all fronts except perhaps Ukraine. I wonder when the hammer will come down on Minnesota? There are now reports that a stream of Federal law enforcement, including the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team is now heading for Minneapolis or is already there.

Perhaps less obviously, Canada may be next. Eight and 1/2 minutes:

How Canada’s Only Leverage Over America Disappeared One Night in Venezuela
I am a bit concerned that Canada will turn to China as its primary market. Trudeau was already leaning that way, and Carney has no real loyalty to Canada, as he is primarily a resident of Europe and the UK who was elected to the Prime Ministership by strange maneuvering. Canada is committing suicide in a similar way to California. Three of Canada's refineries are apparently closing and I read that ~70,000 independent truckers are being driven from the state by new regulations that went into effect on January !, 2026. I guess that is why Newsom is resisting the demands to de-license the illegal drivers. His state may be dependent on them to supply markets, hospitals, farms , and industries with supplies.
