I wish I had invested a couple of grand in Amazon stocks when they were going for $50 a share in ‘97. Now they’re $225 a pop.
From what i have read, Amazon has one of the best employee benefit programs, even including paying for the person to go to college and increase their education. We seldom hear about any employees going on strike, or complaints, and it seems like they are happy with their jobs, so I am wondering what it is that you hate about people working for Amazon, @MamaFrankie ?I hate Amazon and avoid it. I hate the way they treat their workforce.
Check out YouTube for all 3 seasons of Reacher And the remake of RoadHouse. There's two sides to every story. For the many good things you hear about them, there's also just as many bad things. Amazon is rated as a horrible employer in California. There are law offices that specialize in Amazon workplace injury cases. Something I find interesting though, is the similarities between Amazon and Walmart as companies. Remember when Walmart was the black sheep of the corporate big box retailers? They were also rated as a horrible employer all across the country. Yet if you went to any Walmart and asked random employees if they liked working for Walmart, almost always the answer was Yes. That bad reputation hasn't seemed to stop them from making huge profits either. So I don't think the hype matches reality.
But in Amazon's case, it's bad reputation is often tied to Jeff Bezos, one of the three richest and most powerful, yet poorest excuses for human beings in America. Many people personally don't like him, myself included, and as a result of that will only buy something from his company if they absolutely have to. But if you need something and can't get it anywhere else, what choice do you have? As an example, a lot of hospitals give out some Medline products. My son has very dry skin, and one of the things he needs is something that used to be called Phytoplex. If you want to buy it and you search for it online, Walmart and Amazon are the only sources I can find. But Walmart never has any. The only place I can get it is on Amazon.
Then of course, there's Reacher... It's an Amazon Prime original show and you can't get it anywhere else. So when a new season comes out, I wait until all episodes are available, then I sign up for a free month of Prime and watch them, and order a few tubes of Phytoplex, with free Prime shipping. (They have a hub in Bakersfield, which means I would be paying the same rates as always, even though they now only have to transport it 15 miles.) After I'm done binge watching Reacher (I can watch all available episodes in a few days time), I cancel Prime.
This is just my opinion, your mileage may very.
The actor who plays Reacher went on a big anti-Trump rant a while ago, and he alienated many of the folks, including me, who watched the show. I liked the casting better than casting Tom Cruise as Reacher in the movie. Filling the role of a 6'4" kinds bad guy who was not particularly handsome with a 5'8"pretty boy from Hollywood didn't suit my taste. That ruined the franchise for me just as the casting of Matthew McConaughey and Steve Zahn as the lead roles in Clive Cussler's Sahara.Check out YouTube for all 3 seasons of Reacher And the remake of RoadHouse.
If he had gone in the opposite direction, he might have lost viewers too. If they care about such things. I personally don't. I have better reasons than an actors opinion. The actor who plays Reacher went on a big anti-Trump rant a while ago, and he alienated many of the folks, including me, who watched the show.
I think actors should be apolitical. That is the way it was for decades before the Democrat party switched to the other side and become the party of the wealthy instead of the working class. The Republicans now appear to be on the side of the working class and the Dems are supported by the ultra rich.If he had gone in the opposite direction, he might have lost viewers too.
