That's the Way It Crumbles, Cookie-Wise

Three days of rain with high temps in the upper 60s to low 70s. AC not running and even a thin coat of polyurethane took forever to dry on that threshold board. I had to keep it in a small room with a space heater going and the door closed. Found 11 finishing nails the right size. :) Put in 6...

Me too. Especially Reuse. I like it when I've saved something for years and it turns out to be just right for a repurpose later. Often they don't make new things as sturdy as old ones. You have to be in the right place at the right time sometimes. A girl gave me her kitchen electric mixer...

    How's your day been today

I never paid much attention to prices of groceries because whatever it was, was cheaper than eating out, and that used to be my main alternative before COVID. The price of eggs has remained stable lately ($2.99 one dozen large). No new cases of bird flu in poultry farms in Georgia since...

    Welcome to HQ Coffee Shop

Good Morning! :coffee: Even though there are days I don't drink coffee at all, it bothers me to run out. Late night run to Kroger for coffee tonight. Twelve ounces of Folger's Instant in the pantry is enough.

Every time I look for that crack that doesn't exist anymore under the threshold, I smile. :) We had a long unpleasant history together. The dormer room upstairs never even had a threshold. The carpet in that room is worse than pathetic. An old oak board and a can of mahogany tinted...

 I had 3 pairs of aunts & uncles who both worked for Goodyear. One lived on Turkeyfoot Lake Road. That lake is part of Portage Lakes State Park. My girlfriend and I took Red Cross swimming lessons there one summer (1962 ?) as teenagers at one of the lakes.

The house I grew up in was 1.7 miles as the crow flies from Goodyear Airdock in Akron. They made dirigibles there up through 1960. Once in a while they would fly right over our house very low. It was a big event as a kid. Very noisy. The older dirigibles were much larger than the ones seen...

So far today, I changed a light bulb. This required bringing the 6' step ladder upstairs. The globe for the fixture had become a graveyard for the flying insects that invaded the house this winter. Getting it down to clean required a wrench. Putting it back meant holding many moving...

    What's your Weather like today

Rain overnight tonight. Radar shows it coming in from the NE. That almost never happens. Usually from the West. Wonder what that means. :) Update: Radar now shows the rain doing a 180 turn at 2:30 am and heading East. LOL

    Song Stuck In Your Head

Always humming it myself, very quietly, or so I thought. Until one day I took a video with the phone, and it ruined the audio part of the video. I'm more careful now in public.

Put the second coat of primer on the sink. Cut a sloped sliver of wood to fit under the threshold upstairs. (Floor is not level.) Had to use 2 pieces. Will paint it with polyurethane before gluing it in. Not inclined to buy red stain for a couple of square inches.

Thanks, Yvonne. I just went out and found some that had gone to seed. It's definitely like they picture crabgrass. Three-forked seed sprout. Some older plants sprouting around the edges of the driveway show the pink stem base. It's good for animal pastures, but you have to plant it every...

There is a plant in the back yard that has filled in all around where I sprigged St. Augustine. I think it's crabgrass. Won't know for sure unless I let it go to seed. When it's kept mowed down it looks very much like St. Augustine. More important I just found crabgrass is only an annual...
