We have been getting storm warnings for the last few days, always with the possibility that they might be better or worse than they are telling us. As we have gotten closer, the forecast seems to be showing that we have a snow storm or an ice storm, or some mixture of both happening here by this weekend.
They are saying if we get snow, we could have over a foot of it. I have never seen more than a few inches in all the time we have lived in the South. If we get ice, it will be much worse, because that will bring down trees into the power lines and roads and we will lose power and travel will be impossible.
Then, it is predicted to get even colder here, with lows down to -0 F by Tuesday. If we have the power outage , people are going to be freezing with no heat and zero temperatures.
We will have the phones and iPads charged up, but if it gets extensive, we might not be online much to conserve the batteries until we have power back again.

Fingers crossed for you Yvonne. I have been praying for all that will be affected. We won't be having the snow (which we are used to and have means to take care of.) But we will be getting down to extreme negative temperatures (-17F). I worry about my animals.

Apparently there will be a line of ice below (south of) the snow, so power outages are predicted to be catastrophic. If @Bobby Cole got the inverter I mentioned to use with the battery it might provide enough juice to power all the phones and iPads for a while and perhaps even the router/modem depending on the capacity of the battery. The real issue might be heat if there is no power. The wall furnaces would help, but if it gets really cold, they might no be enough. If you can get an indoor-rated propane heater and use it in one room (with a battery-powered CO detector) it might help if all goes bad. I suspect there will be warming centers set up, but if thee snow is bad, you might not be able to get there. I am very familiar with cold and what it can do, so all you folks affected by the storm, please get ready and stay safe.

Bobby did get an inverter from Amazon, @Don Alaska . I don’t know if it is the one you told him about or not, but it is one that he thinks will work. We do not have to do a lot with it. Keep devices charged up, and maybe run the fan for the gas wall heater, and power the electric blanket so we can warm up the bed.
They are saying now that it looks like the main part of the storm is moving north, which is good for us, and also good because the further north it goes, the more likely they will be able to deal with the snow when it does arrive.
Here, we have nothing to deal with it, no snow plows, or access to any, no snow tires, and most people here have no idea how to drive in snow and ice anyway.
Tonight it is only going to be in the 40’s and raining, and about the same for tomorrow, and then on Friday night the storm is supposed to arrive here in Alabama, and last through Sunday, but then get even colder, although now that is showing in the teens, which is much better than around zero.
However, by Friday, all that could change if the cold front keeps moving north, so we will just wait and see what happens, but we are about as prepared as we can be, and it sounds like most of the stores are sold out of the usual bread and milk.

I wish you and Bobby the best.
