Tesla orders largest ever Cybertruck recall as cars 'fall apart while driving
The Cybertruck has been recalled eight times in the past 15 months for safety problems, including once in November after the drive wheels lost power.

All Tesla Cybertrucks on the road have been recalled by US safety regulators, marking their eighth recall since deliveries to customers began just over a year ago. Over 46,000 Cybertrucks have been recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) after it warned that an exterior panel that runs along the left and right side of the windshields could fall off while driving.

What do you think of this?

I have not researched Tesla’s, but after reading the post about the recalls, I looked to see what I could find out about it. Apparently, there is some little flap that has come off on some of the Cybertrucks and has had to be repaired, but it was not anything that was dangerous.
When you compare recalls for Tesla vehicles and other vehicles, Tesla actually has a lot fewer recalls than the other large car manufacturers; we just never hear much about recalls from other vehicles.

Before Elon Musk started DOGE to stop government waste and save the United States from bankruptcy, we never heard anything about Tesla recalls, either.
Driving an electric vehicle, especially an expensive one, was a sign of how much you cared about world climate, and all that stuff.
Now, liberals are out there torching the electric cars that belong to other liberals, just becasue they hate the CEO of the company that makes electric cars.

Anyway, it turns out that over 99% of the Tesla recalls were fixed by an “over-the-air” (WiFi ?) software upgrade, and not something where they had to be taken in to a dealership and repaired.
Here is a chart that shows this. The top chart is software upgrade recalls by company, and the bottom chart is mechanical repairs by company. You can also see that many other companies are recalling a lot of vehicles , it is just not making any kind of news when it happens.

I have never understood what niche the Cybertruck is supposed to fill. It is one of the ugliest vehicles on the road and I don't understand how it does the work of a Dodge Ram 1500, Ford F-150, or Silverado 1500.

It is an ugly car for sure.

Here is a picture that i found online of an antique vehicle in a museum. It sure looks like the Tesla Cybertruck, and it makes me wonder if Elon Musk found this and used it in his design for the Cybertruck.
I am not sure when this vehicle was made or what it was called, but it is pretty interesting, for sure. It looks like it might have been military ?

Such an ugly truck, do you or anyone in your family own a tesla vehicle?

I actually like the looks of the Cybertruck now, but I did think it was strange at first. Some of them have wraps that are amazing, like this one that looks like “Back to the Future”
I do not personally know anyone who owns a Cybertruck, but my grandson has a Tesla and he rally likes it a lot.

I just assumed the average buyer of a Silverdildo or Stooge Ram, etc. was trying to paint themselves a "Look at me, I'm a Big Man" image.

But most of them that I see are never hauling anything back there aside from on rare occasions a dirt bike, snowmobile, or other toy.

I'll add that of course there are folks who need a rugged, high-slung, hauler for a range of practical purposes. But a lot of them seem to be sold as Road Queens.

It has to be a city truck I think. Or maybe someone will tell me why I’m wrong. I’ve only seen one on the road and I’ve seen it twice in the same area. The 2nd time it came up behind me leaving my house so it must live somewhere close. I’d like to see where.

Yes, indeed there are people who have a practical purpose. Me. We drove a one ton Dodge Ram for 20 years. It pulled a travel trailer all over the Rockies as well as to many other destinations. When you’re towing over high mountain passes a powerful gas engine is a good choice. With Trump in office people like me can continue to make their own decisions about what they want to drive, like my son who is driving a big Dodge Ram in Texas these days.

And others can choose to drive a Tesla and we’ll all be happy. I’m so glad that Trump won. What would Kamala make us drive?

It's kind of like people with custom 4x4 vehicles. How often do you see a spec of dirt on them? It's typically very rare. These were not bought for fourwheeling. They are effectively "Four Wheel Trophy Wives"...

In the snow and the mud, 4 wheels can spin twice as good as two. But on the farm when it is dry, kinda nice and they get dirty.

Very true. But using one for what it was built for is rare. People don't really think of Humboldt County (where I used to live) as "farm country", even though there are farms all over the place. But 90% of 4x4s that you see there were just to show off, not for working.

But I apologize... That comment about Trophy Wives was uncalled for. Specially when I remember this woman I knew in Eureka, who was a Guard at the women's section of the County Jail had a fully decked out Hummer. She clearly didn't need one, she wouldn't even drive it on the beach. But she had one...

On a small hwy near me they installed some sort of technology in the lines of the middle of the road. I assume it has something to do with the warning some cars provide to indicate you've strayed over the road. like the electric charging stations that Biden promised on interstates, all sorts of technology will be required in the future to coordinate with cars. I would not trust most. Like solar , we are not there yet.
