That's exactly why I moved to vBulletin when I did lol. If i'm gonna pay for a software, i'm gonna give money to one that was never free to begin with lol.Well, technically, I started out with Mustang "Wildcat!" Dial Up Bulletin Board software, before the Internet came along. My first Internet forum was Invision Power Board 1.0, before Invision Power Services got greedy and started charging people for the program they previously insisted would "Always be Free!"
You know what they say "Money Talks, but all it ever says is 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!'"
The very first forum software I remember using was phpBB, which I used back in 2004/2005. I always remember disliking how they did their mods, you would have to install stuff and edit templates, and if you messed up a little, it broke everything!
Once I heard about MyBB I switched to that before I could afford vBulletin and then Xenforo when that released.phpBB confused me back in the days.
MyBB was my go to forum software years ago.
