I remember a few times having sleep overs at my friends houses and we would camp out in the garden in a tent, it was a lot of fun. Don't think that could be done anymore in that day and age now.
Have you ever gone camping before with friends or family?
The last time I went camping was 12 years ago, it wasn't for me I prefer caravans.

Smithy, when I post a picture from Imgur I get a notification it is too large. Yet it doesn't look any larger than this picture. Can you help me know what it is I'm doing wrong?
We did the same thing with fish we caught, @Don Alaska; but in north Idaho, it was trout that we fished for. We often had fresh trout along with pancakes and eggs cooked over the campfire for breakfast.I camped most of my life. I was trekking into the woods with a buddy or two when I was as young as 10 years old. My wife was just reminiscing about a Ladies camping trip she was on with her females friends when we lived in Bush Alaska. The women boarded boats and headed upriver to a sandbar in the wilderness. They slept on the beach with no tent and watched the sum traverse the sky as it never went down. I asked if she remembered how they dealt with the mosquitoes but she couldn't recall. "A punk fire and mosquito dope I suppose" was her reply. When we did that as a family, we would catch salmon out of the river and cook them on an open fire. Good memories!

My mom was a great campfire cook, and we all enjoyed our camping meals.
Later, when I was fishing with my kids, we would build a small campfire and cook the fish, and sometimes baked potatoes wrapped in tinfoil in the coals of the campfire.
Even at home, we often just had a small bonfire and would roast hot dogs and marshmallows for dinner sometimes. Back then, you could buy chicken backs for about 17 cents a lb, and we often cooked those over the campfire for dinner, too.
Then, we would all just sit around our campfire and sing songs together.
What's wrong with that? I can't sleep on the ground anymore, because for one thing it kill me, and another I would need help getting off the ground... I would have to wear a T-Shirt with an old man sleeping on the ground and saying "I'm Camping and I can't get up!"I would love to be able to still do that, but it would have to be with an RV now, I think.
Why not? All you need is yard, a tent and a grocery bag full of munchies.I remember a few times having sleep overs at my friends houses and we would camp out in the garden in a tent, it was a lot of fun. Don't think that could be done anymore in that day and age now.
Sure, it does. It's all about being in the great outdoors and having fun, not how you sleep.I'm glad we did it, but wouldn't want to do it again with that particular tent. The new ones are easy to set up. Not sure that counts as camping.
Just with how the area is where I live now, it's not overly bad, but you do get incidents, wouldn't want to risk it, now a camping night of fun in the living room would be funWhy not? All you need is yard, a tent and a grocery bag full of munchies.
A camping story....
My brother and SIl bought a tent that slept four. Nice tent, expensive. But not being tent people, hubby and I rented a room at the motel. That night, the rain poured down, the wind blew, the rain ran into the tent. After that, they rented a room, too. I don't know what happened to the tent, I never saw it again.![]()
