    Nutrition: A Cultural Issue?

How 'bout all the millions of people who live in the cities? Somebody has to grow food to feed them. We grow enough veggies in our garden to feed us and share some with our neighbors, but we can't grow enough to feed the whole country. We don't have room to grow any kind of meat. We have...

    Nutrition: A Cultural Issue?

It is not possible to grow enough food for the increasing population on decreasing farmland without finding ways to increase production. Can any of us grow enough food to feed all our neighbors in our little garden areas? That includes meat as well as everything else.

    Polyphenols in coffee and tea

Yvonne, I don't remember ever hearing about polyphenol until you mentioned it here. I've been looking for info about it since then. It turns out that a lot of the foods we are eating has it. So, I think we are good. The only time I drink my coffee black is when I have fasting lab work. It's...

    Polyphenols in coffee and tea

I watched the second video. It seems to me that he is advocating living on plants and supplements. Could the changes that took place be from the supplements, not the dietary changes? Does he sell supplements? I can't believe that fruit is not healthy. By the way, I just had my semiannual lab...

    Doctors

I see my doctor once a year for a complete checkup. I see her at six months in between so that she can make her next car payment. 😊

I have never taken a flu vaccine nor had the flu. Some thoughts from Dr John Campbell...

I had flu twice. Both times I truly thought I was going to die. The last time, I was so sick death would have almost been a relief. I will never miss getting a flu shot. If there is a 50/50 chance it will keep me from getting that sick again, it's worth it.

Do you have any health problems?

My hubby had gout once. It was so painful that he couldn't let the bed sheet touch his toe. His doctor prescribed colchicine and allopurinol. He took one all the time but if he felt another bout of gout coming, he took the other. I don't remember which he took regularly. But it worked.

Low carb, Atkins, Keto, Carnivore WOE Discussion

I was on the low carb eating plan for several years. I lost about 25 pounds. The detractors say that it will raise your cholesterol, but my cholesterol actually went down. I missed potatoes, corn, carrots, and beets so I added them back to my diet. I don't eat a lot of sweets, but I ask myself...

    Nutrition: Fats and Oils

We were told that lard and butter were going to kill us, use Crisco and margarine instead. And don't eat eggs! I went for years only eating eggs occasionally. Then they say, "Well, maybe we were wrong. Eggs are nutritious and healthy." Crisco is going to kill you. Eat vegetable oils instead...
